This book is incredible! I’ll admit I found the first few chapters a bit painful - especially the ones set 15 years ago as they felt slow but once it got going it just didn’t stop! I loved the way the chapters alternated from the present day and flashbacks - it really helped to keep the interest high. My favourite thing about this book - other than the obviously gripping plot(!) - is the characters. I felt sorry for everyone all at the same time - I sympathised with Caroline losing not only her daughter but her entire life and sense of self but also with Michelle, who had inadvertently been ignored and really wanted the best for her family. I think the complexity was fabulous! I’d highly recommend battling the first few chapters because it’s 100% worth it.
