I'm not a fan of historic novels and this hasn't really changed my mind - which is a shame. The author uses a great deal of descriptive language with colours mentioned in every paragraph and vivid imagery of the countryside. But I didn't warm immediately to the characters and didn't really care a great deal for them. I'm sorry!
