I first fell in love with this beautiful cover and knew I had to read the description of the storyline. After that, I knew I wanted to read it. It's not my usual choice of book, especially as I'm reading a lot of YA fiction at the moment, but I've read wartime books in the past and really enjoyed them so I decided to give this one a go. I'm so glad that I read this. It's beautifully written with a touching storyline and characters that are described to perfection. You really get a sense of who they are and what they're going through. It's also a very different plot to any other wartime books that I've read before and I just thought it was brilliant. I've already recommended it to someone I know who loves war books because I know they'll love it too. A great book that I feel privileged to have read.
