It seems a bit of a cliché comparing this book to The Famous Five, but as I grew up reading Enid Blyton it is difficult not to draw a comparison.

The five friends, who live in Shiver Point, notice that there are lots of suspicious events happening in the area. Having solved mysteries in the past (I understand that this is not the first book set in Shiver Point) they set about investigating and soon find some links that take them to a mysterious and abandoned old farm.

I wont spoil the story by giving any further details but would recommend this book as it is a really well written story. Even though it is aimed at children I still enjoyed reading it. The characters were well developed and the story had a proper beginning, middle and end. The descriptions gave an evocative picture and helped you to believe in the story. It would be an ideal book for discussing in class or for a young reader’s group/book club.
