This was book two of the Shiver Point books about the Shiver Squad, a group of 5 children who live in the town of Shiver Point.
What was immediate different was that this book was written from Riley's perspective, who is a girl living with her Granddad. The back story is sad as they only have each other and she is his full time carer which sadly will resonate with a lot of children out there. The mystery is creepy with a scarecrow terrorising the town and wanting to take revenge on the people that did him wrong 25 years ago. The children through their investigations even travel to another town which was a slight change from the original.
The writing is set at a good level for children and is more creepy then down right terror although the image you end up with of the characters is down to your imagination! I enjoyed it and am sure my 9 year old son will aswell.
