This is a great book for the younger reader who likes something a little different and just a bit scary but not scary enough to give nightmares.
The illustration of the village plan at the front of the book sets the scene for the story and helps to follow all the great places where the action takes place.
There are some lovely characters making up the cast of the book who meet up with Alex at the site where the meteorite hits the ground.
Strange things happen in the village after the discovery of the meteorite and the gang set out to find out if the destruction of the school computer room, and the strange slime left behind, can really be connected with what they had found in the forest.
Reminds me of the Quatermass and the Pit film which sure scared me as a kid,
