I think this book is expertly written for the 8-12 year old range. The writing flows very well and although there is a lot going on the storyline is easy to follow. It reminds me of a modern day version of Enid Blyton’s secret seven books. A group of very relatable school children see a lights in the night sky and all congregate at the site of a meteor. The children are a group that all feel isolated or bullied at school, a nerd, a brainy girl, the inventor, a new kid and the one who spends more time in detention than in lessons. This first book in a new series brings the children together and they work together to save the town from whatever came from out of space. Of course the adults don’t believe the children so it is up to them. I am sure youngsters can relate to not only these characters but also to the attitudes in this book from the parents, those in authority and the other students too.
