Older Children will really enjoy reading Shiver Point. Alex has recently moved to Shiver Point because if his mother's work. He's missing his old friends but doesn't see the point of making new friends in case he and his mother move again. His mother is working long hours which adds to his feeling of loneliness. Late one evening while his mother was working Alex sees lights which seem to come down in Howlmoor Forest. One of his teachers has recently talked about meteorites and said that a small piece could be worth a lot of money. He decides to go into the forest hoping to find a piece he could sell so his mother wouldn't have to work such long hours and they could move back to their last home. When he gets there he sees four other children who he recognises from school. Events take a scary turn and Alex along with Riley, Riley, Sophia, Mo and Oli take to their heels and run from the forest. The five then embark on a lot of adventures trying to save Shiver Point. Gabriel Dylan is a schoolteacher and knows exactly how to write books to appeal to older children. I'm hoping to read more about Alex and his friends in Shiver Point in future books.
