This is a great sci-fi spooky read for a middle grade audience. I made my way theough it during my spooky season reads and it fit into the atmosphere nicely. It's fast paced and gripping with lots of mystery around the sudden appearance of an unknown being.
The friendships made to investigate the strange happenings are lovely to read, the misfits making their own shiver squad was a lovely touch.
For fans of Goosebumps and those kind of stories, I think this one would go down a treat. The downfall for me was the gruesome slugs, creepy crawlies are not my kind of thing in a book, but obviously that's hugely down to personal preference.
I believe this is a series and I'm likely to check out what the shiver squad get up to next.
Overall, a good read that I'm sure will be huge amongst the middle grade audience.
