Shiver Point - It Came From The Woods by Gabriel Dylan centres around twelve year old Alex who spots a meteorite falling into Howlmoor Forest one night. Whilst he would like to find a piece of the meteorite so that he can financially help his mum, a hard working nurse out, the event sets off a series of spooky occurances. These include break ins, stolen tinned cat food, weird smells and slimy black slugs, trails and foot prints which appear in all sorts of places!
At the start of the book there is a great map of the town of Shiver Point showing the spooky names of Shipwreck Cliffs, Shiver Cove Beach and Darkraven Farm which I thought was brilliant.
This would be a great bedtime story or read aloud learning for young readers in preparation for a spooky Halloween night.
I loved the shiny, shimmering, slug trails all over the cover! A great read.
