Welcome to Shiver Point! We are introduced to an unlikely group of friends - Alex, our main protagonist, who is new to town and struggling to fit in; the town troublemaker Oli; Sensible and studious Sophia; Riley the engineering enthusiast; and the inquisitive Mo.
One night, while ruminating on his new home and how bored he feels, Alex spots a meteorite barreling down from the sky and straight into Howlmoor Forest. He sets off to investigate and that’s where he finds a small group of other children who also witness this spectacular sight. They decide to explore, and this sets off a chain reaction of other spooky-happenings. As their adventure unfolds they find out lots of strange things about the town that they live in, and it’s up to the group to solve the mystery and save the town before it’s too late!
This was a great read for slightly older children to pre-teens - it has a spooky and mysterious vibe, but it won’t be scary for children. The cover is brilliant, and perfectly encapsulates the story. All in all, a great read and would highly recommend!
