This first novel of Angela Marsons did not disappoint me. Having read many crime novels, it was refreshing to read one with a new and different plot idea.

Kim Stone is a what you see is what you get type of character! A strong female lead who is very driven and will break protocol if she needs to. Her working relationship with Bryant is very strong and I like the way the author has built this up as the story goes on.

The plot kept me intrigued as I read along. Murders that end up being connected, with lots of twists and turns as the book goes on. The story of the children's home was deeply sad and at times hard to read about. The connections between the staff and residents becomes apparent and it is up to Stone and Bryant to solve the problem before time runs out.

The book hits the ground running right from the start and is fast paced throughout. I read this in a couple of days and immediately ordered the next few books in the Kim Stone series. Praise goes to Angela Marsons for creating new crime reading and touching upon tough, but important issues.
