I've read a lot of thrillers. They're one of my favourite genres, and a lot of the time I find them a nice, easy read. This book, though. Wow. It gave me so many feels. This book has immediately jumped to one of the top ten thrillers I've ever read. As soon as I'd finished it, I bought the second one and am currently reading it.

The writing. There's not much to say about it, other than it is absolutely amazing. Marsons has a way with words that says exactly what she's wanting to say and showing you what you're meant to be shown. Marsons is very much a "show, don't tell" author which I absolutely love in a book because you really get a feel of the surroundings and the personalities within the novel, so I really enjoy this style of writing. It's witty and funny without being pretentious or smug. I really love her writing style.

The characters. Utterly perfect. Beautifully developed with real life personalities. They're all real people with real flaws that create such well developed and human characters. Her protagonist is fabulously sarcastic, and had me laughing out loud at some points. I thoroughly enjoyed her and can't wait to see her again.

The plot is such a twisty and turny adventure. It was gripping and had me on the edge of my seat in some places, and even had a relatively happy ending despite children being dead. And then just when you think it's all over, BOOM, there's another little mystery to be solved. It's truly a work of art and one of a kind, and for one of the rare times in my life, I couldn't figure out the mystery. So well done, Marsons, you've created a genius plot that had me totally enthralled that I couldn't figure out! Bravo.

An easy 5/5 stars from me, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Bravo, indeed.
