I was blown away by the prospect of a modern day Agatha Christie set-up with our protagonist, Anna, teetering on the edge on sleep deprivation and winding up in a remote Scottish island setting with a cast of strangers all with closely guarded secrets. There is a sense of vulnerability about Anna from the off and I immediately cared about her and felt invested in her fate.
Together with the atmospheric setting and a shifting spotlight of suspicion in hostile conditions the novel sounds like a tension fuelled murder mystery with nobody what they appear to be on the surface. Secrets, drama and suspicion galore and they’ll be no sleep for sure when I dive into this book!
