This book opens with an ending, a death note saying how the writer (our protagonist Anna) has likely been murdered and gives a list of candidates, who are guests at a remote Scottish island hotel which Anna runs. Then we delve into a motive, it turns out Anna accidentally killed an angry muscular mans child.

The writing is quite good, the concept is not new, but the characters provide enough contrasts to bring about an interesting plot. I like the way that we see into Annas down trodden life, the way she is bullied by that guy, then she accidentally kills him, there is almost a punctuation – good riddance. I didn’t like the way the note is at the start of the book, to try and engage the reader, this put me off and was enough for me to put the book down had I not read further. This could be a good read.
