If a book grabs you from the first sentence, then you know it is going to be good, and what an opening sentence 'Sleep' has! With words seemingly belonging to a dead person, and the implication that they have been murdered, there are already several questions buzzing around my head! Who is the killer? Why does Anna know that something is about to happen to her? What has she done in the past? Who is David? The list could go on!

A remote Scottish island is always an ideal setting for a murder mystery and so by locating the novel on Rum, you know that the locality is going to play a pivotal role in the plot. There also appears to be elements of Agatha Christie's, 'And Then There Were None' - always a winner in my book!

The book's cover instantly adds to the suspense, the dark background with the isolated house helping to build a sense of foreboding. I am already desperate to know how this story ends...
