Wow! I was really looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. I have read C.L. Taylor’s books previously and this one lived up to my expectations. It’s a genuinely scary thriller, which I could not put down.

The plot and claustrophobic setting reminded me a little of Agatha Christie’s ‘And Then There Were None’ – everybody has something to hide! I genuinely did not guess the outcome, but to me the twists did not feel overly contrived. I want to re-read it soon to see if I spot more clues the second time around.

Anna is a gripping protagonist. Traumatised but still brave, she is plagued by guilt as well as a potential human threat. The perspective means we question Anna’s mind as she does and Taylor really builds up the sense of her insomnia.
