I loved this book, it kept me on my toes through every twist and turn and I genuinely found it difficult to put down. The characters are likeable yet mysterious and the setting on the isolated island adds to the suspense throughout the novel. The island of Rum certainly sounds like a perfect place to escape your demons. The depth to each character's secret was intriguing; I always wanted to know more and try to suss them out before the big reveal.
Everything was written so vividly I could easily imagine I was living the experience with them.
I really liked how some chapters were from different characters, giving the occasional clue but mostly giving the main story context. I also enjoyed the exploration of sleep and death, and how people cope in different ways with death, suffering and grieving.
