I completely devoured this book, in leas than 24hrs. There’s a whole host of tragedy amongst it’s characters and a big mystery which twists and turns throughout the storyline. Anna acts as the main protagonist within the stories plot - riddled with her own secrets and guilt, she embarks on a new life on a Scottish island. Working in a hotel, she becomes entwined in a somewhat Agatha Christie-esque “locked room” mystery - a storms hits the isle and they’re all stranded in the hotel with no means of communication to the outside world.

Anna escapes London as a means of overcoming her suspicions that she was being stalked - but has the stalker followed her to Rum? Are one of the guests responsible for her turmoil? And, is she at risk of being murdered? In turn, strange events start to unfurl, and Anna grows suspicious of all the guests in turn. We, the reader, often question whether Anna is suffering from some sort of delusion, or whether she actually is subject to somebody’s creepy torments.

We experience this story from the perspective of many of the characters, which causes us to question people’s roles in some of the strange events which occur throughout the book. We build certain alliances, which are ultimately questioned through, and are left guessing as to what’s actually happening and who is responsible, right up to the end of the book. Will this story end in tragedy? Or will Anna unveil the culprit and seek to upend their wicked plans?

This is a great thriller, interlaced with numerous exceedingly creepy scenes and many unexpected events. We learn that all the residents of The Bay View Hotel, have their secrets, histories, regrets and personal torments - thus making it possible that anyone could be responsible for the strange occurrences. Definitely recommend this, as a short and fast-paced thriller!
