Anna is recovering from a car accident that killed two of her colleagues and left another seriously injured when she takes a job in a hotel on the island of Rum in Scotland.

There she begins her new life and meets seven strangers, each with their own secrets. Anna’s dreams are haunted by what happened and she finds that sleep doesn’t come easily when you have a guilty conscience. After splitting with her boyfriend and leaving her job she hopes this is a new beginning, but some of the hotel residents seem to be acting very strangely. Is she being watched? And who is leaving her strange messages?

I loved this book. It’s a real page turner with two storylines running alongside each other, and each chapter deals with a different character, with teasing ‘mystery’ chapters that give nothing away but make you want to read on! This is gripping with engaging and creepy characters.

This is easy to read as the chapters are short and the story is engaging. I haven’t read anything by this author before but this easily deserves a five star rating. It sounded a bit like it could be an Agatha Christie novel with seven potential suspects in a remote location, but instead it is more menacing, with a bad storm keeping any real ‘help’ from getting to the island. Therefore the inhabitants are on their own. Gripping from the start, and with twists at every turn, you won’t get much sleep til you’ve finished it! Loved it!
