Despite thinking I was a detective whilst reading this book, (I even took to having a notebook with all the suspects names written down and making notes on them as the clues arose.) I was completely foxed by the excellent writing skills of C L Taylor. Dam you woman, I really thought this would be my first book that I'd solve the mystery.

I loved the opening to this story, a letter from Anna explaining how she thinks one of the guests is out to kill her. And, she gives us a list of names. So, we had our suspects. We had our vulnerable, guilt ridden would be victim and we have the perfect setting. A remote Scottish island, which to add to the atmosphere is experiencing an awful storm which threatens to isolate the guests and Anna from the mainland.

This story was packed with mystery and tension from the get go. I was forever questioning every character, and I fell into every trap Taylor laid out. Every one of the guests had their own secret or story that was uncovered to us the reader at varying stages. The perfect way to accuse everyone.

It's the perfect psychological thriller. Anna in the story struggles to get sleep because she keeps reliving the awful reason she has relocated to Rum. With its short fast paced chapters packed full of suspense I can guarantee you will lose sleep thinking about this story.
