Over controlling lover red flags are flying

The extract not being the beginning of the book has intrigued me on how the characters met and how he ensnares her. Then how the character deals with this increasingly obnoxious man she has fallen in love with as he continues to show his true colours. Even in this short extract you feel like screaming that she needs to get away from him as fast as she can, his behaviour causes all sorts of red flags; the money sent to his lacky, alienation from her family, pressuring her to marry all seems rather dodgy. Certainly a interesting read.
