Very hard-hitting and close to home

This sound alike a great concept and the writing was well done and very evocative. Unfortunately I feel this should have had a trigger warming on it as the way the main character is treated is very close to home and reading any more would have been too painful. The writing was very well done, a little too much so that I would not have been able to read it any more for fear of relapsing due to past trauma with this subject. No reflection on the author or the book ,both were well executed, but it was just not for me.
