Thank you to Reader's First and HarperElement for the advanced copy of Sleeping with a Psychopath. This book had me gripped from the first page, and kept me interested throughout the book. Even more thrilling is that this story is based on Carolyn Woods real life account of her encounter with Mark Conway/Aklom. Mark Conway/Aklom deceives his way into Carolyn Woods' life and systematically and calculatingly upends it. In his wake he leaves Carolyn with no financial or social support as he has managed to con her into "loaning" him money, which in the end was all her life-savings. He also manages to isolate her from her family and friends, who in trying to protect Carolyn, manage to push her even more into Mark's arms.
I was left with a feeling of great sadness at the trail of destruction that he caused, and how he could easily use people to achieve his end goal. His prison sentence is far too short, as the aftermath left in his wake is something that Carolyn will have to live with for the rest of her life.
I applaud her courage and strength to stand up to this awful human being.
