From the opening page I loved this book and I seemed to whizz through it in no time. The writing style was so easy to read.

It genuinely felt like I was reading a work of fiction as I read some of the events that unfolded throughout this book and some of the promises made by Mark. I was screaming at the pages 'why would you believe him?!' yet, it seems that this happens regularly. I was slightly put off by the text message sloppy conversations and part of me felt that Carolyn had been very naive believing in three days that 'Bubba' loved her. (Does anyone really use Bubba as an affectionate name?!) As an outsider looking in, it was clear something wasn't quite right with Mark.

I always know I am reading a good book when I relay events from it to other people. I found myself doing this so much with this. I imagine from the outside, it would have looked like Carolyn was living the dream life, but clearly she wasn't. In one part of the book, one of her friends commented that when they were younger, they would look at their dream houses in the Circus, here Carolyn was living in one. It wasn't a dream that she was in though, more of a nightmare.

I always imagine that people who have families don't end up homeless, but it was heartbreaking reading how Carolyn floated from one couch to another and travelling with just fifty euros in her purse... Too embarrassed to tell many people what was happening and desperate to get her money back from him.

I really have enjoyed this book - it gripped me throughout.
