Sleeping with a Psychopath is an absolutely fascinating story which definitely comes across as something which would be a compelling fiction read but shockingly is a true story of a very convincing con artist who sadly has destroyed the lives of many, but in this case, of Carolyn Woods. I don't generally read these sort of 'real life victim' books but I found this one to be really engrossing. I had heard of this con man but didn't know very much more than the headlines. It is unsettling how easily Mark was able to make himself a part of Carolyns life and how easily he managed to strip away her confidence, friends and sense of self. You always hope that you'll be able to see this sort of con coming a mile off and yet it seems that really anyone can be affected. Carolyn came across as a sensible person and yet was duped - I suppose this book highlights how important it is not to believe what someone tells you
