I initially enjoyed the book - and was intrigued by the story, especially as it is true. In the first read I felt sorry for Carolyn but wondered if she’d very quickly discover Marks deceit but was surprised to find that wasn’t the case (however I’m sure in the circumstances it was hard to see the wood for the trees).

I found some of the language frustrating, while they may have called each other ‘Bubba’ personally I found it irritating and repeated unnecessarily. But the second half of the book I enjoyed more, with the exception of his it had affected the author, for the inside glimpse it gives into real life policing. I felt it seemed very fair and without accusation considering the circumstances. Whilst I can’t say I’d describe this as an enjoyable read I was happy to discover how the story ended. I’d also say it’s a worthwhile read for anyone, and does make you stop to think before accepting someone at face value. Credit to the author for her courage in writing this and sharing
