So, I'm sure no one has any objections about how mesmerising and Unsettling the front cover is.Those eyes just seem to really look through the viewer, and to be honest, it creeps me out. As soon as I started reading, surprisingly, I got this sense of calm, when hearing the book was set in Bath, one of my favorite place. However, this alarming feeling came up again right away when the protagonist's partner Mark is introduced. It was evident in the first sentence about Mark that he was trouble. I don't know how to explain that feeling of being subdued or forced, depicted within the main character.

And although we are shown that slight feeling of love or attraction that she does have for him, the focus is certainly on how she feels quite numb about everything. Despite being pretty annoyed with him for leaving, she doesn't make a scene. And I find that a perfect example for other conversation she takes part in.

I'm intrigued to keep going!
