I think that this first impression is intriguing, the tense that it’s written in brings the world alive and makes you feel as though you could be there, on the cold caravan roof.
The characters seem very three dimensional, you catch glimpses of their lives without being given too much - a great exploration in this book awaits, I think.
Some of the dialogue seems less convincing than others, but maybe that’s part of the fun - breaking into someone else’s world and seeing things from their point of view.
I like the cyclical nature of the ‘wishes’ on the first few pages - maybe suggesting what is to come later on?
