As I was reading the first impression and premise of this book, the main thing that jumped out at me was the uniqueness of the setting. Debbie’s upbringing and life is so different to any characters I have read before. I felt a sense of connection with Debbie, as a young person from a rural community who is dipping their toe into adult life through university and volunteering whilst still remaining close to my family roots. I am fascinated by Uncle Billy and Maeve and desperately want to know what happens to them. The cover is simple yet intriguing, it draws you in.
