I think just from reading the synopsis it embodies exactly what we know to be true, everyone grows up in such different households and we never know what is behind the door. As a health visitor this is what I love about my job, and children do indeed know no different to that which they have become used to, their ‘normal’. Therefore it makes sense that all children when they grow up have been influenced by that and that their version of safety (where they know the best) is at home, whatever has happened.
