I loved this book. It was an absolute joy to read. The main protagonist, Debbie, an 18 year old working on a dairy farm, is a character that you find yourself rooting for and invested in her story.
It's an incredible depiction of mental health - so raw and realistic and I felt it myself.
I loved to see the relationship with her Uncle.
Nealons writing style is so consumable. It's almost lyrical. I'm always a fan of short chapters as it adds a lot of pace to a book - as it did here.
The way she builds emotion and transitions between heartbreaking, hilarious and back again, so quickly and seamlessly keeps you gripped.
It's one of those novels where you are in awe of the fact that this is the authors debut work.
I am no doubt that I will read everything that Nealon writes in the future and she's firmly on my list of go-to authors.
