Debbie lives on a farm with her mother and uncle, and she is about to start university. We experience Debbie's feelings as she flows through the two different worlds - at home where there's family tension versus the new life of being a student, being social and finding her first responsibilities as an adult.

I was so excited to receive this book - during my first impression I stated that as a university student living away from home, this book instantly got my attention. I think I finished reading this within a week - constant character development, cliffhangers that grasped me and beautiful writing.

Debbie's mother, Maeve, really intrigued me. Believing her dreams are prophecies, the way she gets hyper-focused on them and the way that it physically and emotionally effects Debbie was beautifully written. I related a lot to Debbie with how naive you can be coming into your adult life.

Louise Nealon wasn't afraid to make her characters unlikeable in 'Snowflake' - I enjoyed the company of the characters most of the time, but there were definitely moments where I had to question their judgement and reactions. But, I believe this is a good thing. Can't wait to see whats next to come from Louise Nealon!
