Snowflake is a character-focused, part-campus, part-rural novel; Debbie lives at home with her mother, who suffers from depression and her uncle, who drinks too much. The plot is very much on the back-burner with this one, as the story revolves around Debbie as she attempts to navigate newfound University life at Trinity College Dublin.

I really enjoyed this novel, it felt so real to me. Some of the conversations are similar to those I've had in real life with my friends, but I've never seen anything similar discussed in a book or a film or any kind of representative form. Depression affects many people, and can often take hold of University students who are lonely and away from their families for the first time - especially when they're being told by everyone else these are the best years of their life: enjoy them. In a strange way, it actually felt refreshing to see this side of University on display.

Really great read, I read it in 2 days; this will be a popular one.
