I absolutely loved this book start to finish, Louise Nealon has such a unique gift for storytelling! Debbie was such a relatable character from her train mishaps on her orientation day at college to sitting down with her friends and watching Gilmore Girls and debating who is Team Dean or Team Jess. I found her uncle Billy to be a hugely interesting character and a real stabilising influence in Debbie’s life when she is often left with a sense of instability from her mother. Debbie’s mother was one aspect of the book that I struggled with; she is a very well written character but her musings and beliefs about dreams tended to unsettle me somewhat. Overall this is one of the best books I have read this year, it is a tale of coming of age, finding yourself and losing yourself all in one and it is so relatable, especially to anyone who is accustomed to society in Ireland.
