Like The Beekeeper of Aleppo, this is a beautifully written story about sadness. The contradiction between killing hundreds of songbirds to make a living but caring for one bird to keep it alive is thought provoking. Although contemporary, the story seems timeless. Again like the author’s previous book, the cover is just gorgeous.
