Not my preferred genre and the first impression didn’t hook me.

I did not read The Beekeeper of Aleppo purely because it isn’t the style of fiction that I tend to enjoy. I read the first impression and it didn’t hold my attention fully. I find these weepy, inspirational stories slightly manipulative in that from the start the outcome is usually obvious but you know there will be 300 pages of struggles, unfairness and injustices before the book gets there.
