So pleased I saved my points for this one!
Having enjoyed The Beekeeper of Aleppo so much as soon as I saw that Songbirds is this week's book I claimed it immediately, before reading the opening pages, because I cannot imagine this author writing anything I wouldn't enjoy! I have now read them and my faith has been rewarded because these early chapters have already drawn me in to what promises to be a very moving, if at times upsetting, story.
An added bonus for me is that it's set on Cyprus, an island I love. As I'm writing this first impression, my memories of hiking in the Troodos Hills have been brought into sharp focus, reminding me of how wonderfully evocative the author's prose is.
I think the cover is beautiful and I'm so looking forward to reading the story it hold.
