Straight away the book cover hooked me and then my prior reading on The Beekeeper of Aleppo makes this a instant read for me!
From what I can read so far, Nisha seems to be removed from her own child to earn money through looking after someone else’s...I can’t begin to image how heart breaking that would be. The phrasing on the blurb tugged at my heartstrings ‘by the light of the phone’ already making Nisha a character that you sympathise with.
Then, there seems to be a twist/turning point in the story line where the focus changes. I love any mystery, especially when they are complex and include race and class, as I love that constant guessing and questioning that you do as a reader!
I am so thrilled this is coming out soon- I can’t wait to read it!
