I cannot express how eye-opening, illuminating yet devastating this novel is. Christy Lefteri has a gift: she is truly an outstanding author. There’s such power in the prose and narrative that I cannot fault. Her words are lyrical.
It is a slow burn, but it is highly engaging throughout. It’s a heavy and harrowing read, but it’s also full of hope. I just know that this is a book that I will be re-reading.
The novel is told through two different perspectives. All of the characters were so authentic and it makes me very happy to know that there are authors, like Lefteri, that are giving a voice to the silence. We need to hear their stories.
Obviously, no spoilers, but I really wish that there had been a Nisha PoV! That, and a follow-up to the ending… I just didn’t want it to end.
