The ending is realistic and heartbreaking, it doesn't sugarcoat that the world is a cruel place. I liked the way the mystery of Nisha's disappearance was misdirected, we initially are led to believe it was one of the men in her life and we find out that it was actually (no spoilers here). We are reminded of the atrocities overseas, a fact that is often skipped over in historical fiction. I appreciate how the disappearance, mistreatment and murder of nannies and poc home workers are finally being told, there are more stories coming out like 'Disappearance in Fiji'.
I liked how we saw different lifestyles between Petra and yiannis, and how even though petra lives a privileged life she cares for and advocates for Nisha. This author has become one of those writers whose books I will always pick up, beekeeper of Aleppo was a hit; can't wait to read her new book.
