I must say, I was very excited to read this book after the tremendous success of the first book, the beekeeper of Aleppo. Songbirds is the second book by Christy Lefteri, and this second book really did not disappoint! It is a beautiful story which is beautifully and eloquently written, capturing lots of emotion with vivid imagery. The story follows Nisha, an immigrant from Sri Lanka who works as a nanny in Cyprus This book is cleverly written as it is written in the perspective of another... her lover and also employer. There are several parts of the story that take you on different emotional journeys and it is so lovely to see the contrast. This book is true to contemporary issues today and the struggles of many immigrants and their employers. To anyone thinking of reading this book, songbirds, I definitely recommend you give it a go and I am sure you will like it!
