After reading The Beekeeper of Aleppo, I was overjoyed to get my hands on a copy of this book. Oh my, it did not disappoint!
The style of writing means that we got to experience both sides - then and now as the story centres around the disappearance of Nisha, we learn her voice and see her own story.
What I particularly loved about this novel was the emotions that surrounded the disappearance. Because Nisha was just a ‘cleaner’, no one was interested in her whereabouts, putting it down to the fact that people move for better jobs all the time. But those who knew her, knew that this wasn’t the case. Leaving behind two precious artefacts, the two closest to her know something is wrong. They just know that leaving is something Nisha would never do.
I adored this book but it is different to the first one. The first one was full of hope. This book is full of reality.
A really excellent read, however.
