I initially wanted to read this book because of the success of The beekeeper of Aleppo but I'm now very glad that I read this book in its own right.
The dual perspective of the book meant that we could gain an insight into different characters, different worlds and how differently people can see the same situation. This book posed questions that I had never thought of before and that made me question the way that I see the world. There are controversial topics in this book such as poaching but these topics are and aren't the focus of the book at the same time.
We see Petra's viewpoint change throughout the book and her relationship with Aliki develops through the absence of Nisha. Petra's relationship with Nisha also changes even though Nisha isn't there to be aware of it. I think that Petra's character arc is one of the most prominent in the entire book.
We also see Yiannis' perspective of the world change.
