Really, really enjoyed this book. I had not read the Bee Keeper of Aleppo so was not sure what to expect from this second novel by Christy Lefteri. I have to say it's beautifully written and the emotion pours out of the two main characters.
The story of a missing maid is told through the woman she works for and her secret boyfriend. It evokes the beauty of a Greek Island and the horrific circumstances maids from abroad work in and the lives they are forced to life. They had thought they were going to work to provide a better life for them and their family.
The story is based on some truth and is portrayed with warmth and tenderness for the individuals and circumstances. It really is a great read and an emotional journey where I hoped amongst hope as I turned each page, I hung on to hope all the way.
This is definitely one book I will be keeping to reread again!
