The fourth book in the series and is as amazing as the first three! The way it’s written draws you in and ensures that you can’t put the book down. This is one series I find myself coming back to again and again despite having read it a number of times because of how amazing it is and how well it’s written. The characters stand out on the page and are people I would definitely want to get to know and the main character, Kellen, has developed so much since the first book where he was a little bit of a wimp because he couldn’t do magic. The squirrel cat, Reichis, has also developed as a character as well and has formed a bond with Kellen that has strengthened them both and that has grown only stronger over the books. Kellen’s shadow black is an intriguing aspect to him and when he finds out about the monastery it’s hard not to be excited for him because it really feels like he’s about to find out all the answers.
