This is the fourth book in Sebastien De Castell's spellslinger series, but the first I had read which I feel was a major problem.
The book follows Kellen who is a seventeen year old exile from the Jan'Tap territories, who has been cursed with Shadowblack markings. He is trying to find the Ebony Abbey to be cured, but when separated from his squirrel cat Reiches he gets dragged deeper into trouble.
Having not read any of the previous books in this series, I found it really confusing. The names are all unusual, and there is alot of magic, and travelling between worlds...I'm afraid I got lost more than once, and I didn't find the characters believable... Probably because they are magical.
I think if you are into fantasy, and had read the earlier books you would probably like this. The story moved along at a good pace, but I struggled to connect or really understand what was going on.
Sorry, not for me.
