Awww, I really like these books. This one took me a little longer to get through but I think that was more of a lack of focus than anything.
In this book we're introduced to a bunch of new characters with the shadowblack and I liked them all though there are times you clearly weren't supposed to. I think I'd like to have read more of their lifestyle at the monastery, maybe had Kellen actually join in in on one of their parties that would have been fun.
The Reichis stuff and mentions of Ferius tore my heart out. It's all okay in the end but there was a lot of pain and, man, they're both so good.
As usual the worldbuilding and lore was excellent. This time we get to see a variety of characters and learn a lot more about the shadowblack it's all really fascinating. Kellen learning about it was an important step. I'm interested to see where it'll go next.
