The growth of Kellen over this book was utterly sublime. Character growth is one of the biggest things I look for in a book and Castell supplied it in bucketloads.
The plot was unpredictable, but in a fun and exciting way. The trademark humour of the Spellslinger series really shone through once more.
I can't talk about this series without quickly mentioning those gorgeous covers as well. I love how they're all co-ordinated to match a theme of decks of cards and they look rather lovely on any shelf.
Soulbinder has a real western-y feel about it and is an adventure packed full of heart, humour and mystery. It's emotional, with plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing.
