I know what you're thinking. Is this a cookery book? Is this a book about sourdough? What is it?

Well, it's a bit of everything, really. A surprisingly enjoyable bit of everything too. Sourdough is as meaningful as you make it; there is a message to be found written between these pages, but it's also easily read just for enjoyment and not for philosophical matter. I enjoyed it much, much more than I thought I was going to.

At it's core, Sourdough is a contemporary book about a somewhat bizarre sourdough stater with a bit of tech thrown in and a dusting of magical realism (see aforementioned sourdough starter). Lois' narration is actually one of the most refreshing narrators I've read in a while; her voice is colloquial yet somewhat fresh and individual.

Perhaps you'll look at the blurb of this book and think it sounds unique but not exciting enough, and that's fine. But there's something special to this book, and the only way to know it is to read it.
